New Release Eric Bartos July 13, 2025
Canadian electro-pop artist Kiesza has unleashed her most provocative single yet, dropping “So Erotic” featuring electroclash icon Peaches on July 11. The track is the latest preview of her upcoming EP “Dancing and Crying: Vol. 2,” set for release July 25.
The collaboration came together through social media, with Kiesza reaching out to Peaches directly. “Peaches is a legend!” Kiesza explained. “I slid into her DMs not knowing if she would see it or respond. She lives in Berlin but happened to be in Toronto where I was recording the volume with Jess Cake, Sugar Jesus and Bobby Love at my house. She came by and laid down her verse.”
Peaches, the Berlin-based artist who’s been pushing boundaries for over two decades, was exactly what Kiesza needed for this sultry new direction. “She is truly a badass icon,” Kiesza continued. “The track is super juicy and heavy and very dirty. The bass feels like a dungeon.”
“So Erotic” represents a bold new chapter in Kiesza’s artistic evolution, combining her signature dance-pop sound with Peaches’ unapologetically raw energy. It’s part of what Kiesza calls her “sexy, intimate exploration of female-driven house music.”
This latest project follows last year’s “Dancing and Crying: Vol. 1,” which featured the chart-topping single “I Go Dance” that hit No. 1 on the U.S. Dance Airplay Chart.
This new volume feels more cohesive and intentional. “It’s a volume you can lose yourself in and that was intentional,” Kiesza noted. “Because of my songwriter background, I have a tendency to switch vibes or genres almost daily, but this time I wanted to keep an emotion going throughout the volume and sustain it.”
Kiesza’s journey from her billion-stream hit “Hideaway” to underground house exploration represents an interesting artistic transformation. A car crash forced a two-year hiatus from her career, but she emerged with renewed creative focus and artistic independence.
Her recent collaborations with producers like Sammy Virji and Jess Cake have resulted in a sound that honors both her pop sensibilities and underground dance music’s raw energy.
The complete “Dancing and Crying: Vol. 2” includes six tracks, featuring collaborations with Jaylen Brown on “Runway” alongside solo tracks like “It’s My Birthday,” “Ruin My Life,” and “To Die to Sleep.”
The EP also includes “Stays in Bed,” her previous single produced by U.K. breakout DJ and producer Sammy Virji that perfectly set up the sultry atmosphere “So Erotic” amplifies.
Kiesza will support the new music with an extensive North American tour that extends her “Dancing and Crying” tour with special guest Bonnie McKee.
The tour includes stops in Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Chicago, Minneapolis, and concludes with a headlining show at Los Angeles’ El Rey Theatre on Sept. 27. Canadian fans can catch her at Toronto Pride celebrations and stops in Ottawa, Montreal, and Waterloo throughout August.
As electronic music continues evolving, collaborations like “So Erotic” show how artists from different eras can create something entirely fresh while honoring their respective legacies. The track stands as both a celebration of sexual liberation and a testament to the power of fearless artistic collaboration.
“So Erotic” is available now on all major streaming platforms, with “Dancing and Crying: Vol. 2” following on July 25, and can be pre-saved here.
