Iceland Eclipse Festival Unveils Second Contact Lineup

In the lead up to a once in a lifetime festival, Iceland Eclipse unveils the Second Contact lineup with more programming, adding Side Quests and Excursions. Iceland Eclipse will take place August 12-15 2026 in the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. The quickly sold out First Contact announcement revealed performances by artists like Meduza3, Berlioz, and Emilíana Torrini along with programming by participants from Space for Humanity, the UN, NASA, and more. Second Contact continues the trend of bringing out of this world experiences.

Musicians and visionaries like Arc De Soleil, Imogen Heap, and East Forest will bring their unique sound to the stage. Blending music and comedy will be American comedian, musician, actor and improviser Reggie Watts.

Participants from the realms of science and technology dare to open minds and expand knowledge. A few of these pioneering participants are Dr. Rick Doblin, founder of MAPS, Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies; Shaig Abduragimov and Anouk Muis of OpenAI; Anouk Wipprecht of FashionTech, and Dr. Robin George Andrews, volcanologist and science writer covering Earth and planetary science.

Showcasing Icelandic talent and skill in the lineup are architect Magnús Albert Jensson, painter Bjarni Sigurbjörnsson, and mixed-media artist Ragnheiður Guðmundsdóttir. Musician Hjaltalín blends indie rock with orchestral sounds and TRPTYCH creates ambient soundscapes.

Adding to the exceptional programming, Iceland Eclipse has revealed three limited-capacity Side Quests. Into the Lava Cave, open to 50 people, is an intimate journey into the 8,000-year-old Vatnshellir lava tube for an acoustic performance in a subterranean setting. Inside the Glacier, open to 100 people, lets festivalgoers venture through paths in Langjökull, Europe’s second-largest glacier, culminating in a musical moment within its crystal blue chambers. Totality at the Waterfall is a guided hike to Svöðufoss waterfall, where guests will gather at a natural vantage point to witness the total solar eclipse with live music and refreshments.

The festival is partnering with local groups to offer Day Trips and, for those extending their stay, Multi-Day Trips. A few of these exciting offers include kayaking by Kirkjufell, cave and crater explorations, glacier hikes, and ATV rides across lava fields. The festival’s ‘Local Legends’ Bus Routes (included with festival passes) connect attendees to nearby landmarks such as Vatnshellir Lave Cave, Saxhóll Crater, Svöðufoss Waterfall, and Ólafsvík Pool. Multi-Day Trips Silfra diving, volcano helicopter flights, ice cave excursions, among others.
